Blog Assignment 7- The Outcome of the Civil War
This blog assignment is purely an opinion question but I want you to take some time to really think about it before you answer. Today in class we began discussing the battles and events of the Civil War. We learned about how at the Battle of Antietam Robert E. Lee's plans were discovered which kept him from taking Washington D.C. and ending the war. This is just one example in the many turn of events that could have changed the outcome of the Civil War. In at least 5 sentences I want you to tell me how our country's history might have been different if the South had won the Civil War. Think about what happened as a result of the war: the end of slavery and Lincoln's assassination are just two things to consider. So put some thought into your answer. Don't forget to put your name and class period at the end of your post.

Our country's history might have been different if the south had won. I think that slavery could still be going today if the Union hadn't won. I also think that we could've had another civil war over the issue of slavery again. If the southern states were their own country, then the U.S. wouldn't be as big. President Lincoln might not have been assasinated, but we would've been a nation that would have fallen apart. Maybe even Great Britian might offer to take us back as part of their country because we would've failed as part of our own. Manifest Destiny might have not been fufilled if some of the new states became part of the slave country. We might be living with slaves in our home if the Union had not won. The people who we consider equal would be in rags while we are in riches bossing them around. That may sound fun having someone that you tell what to do and not having to clean your room, but what if you were the slave being bossed around? UGGG!!

Our country's history would have been WAY different if the south had won. We would have had slaves today and we still would have been doing bad things to them. If Abraham Lincoln hadn't died some of our presidents may not have been been able to do the good things they have done. I still do think is sad that he died. It is true on the slave topic that our houses today would have been cleaner but who cares! It is better not to have slavery then to have a clean house. We have learned alot from our history and the way some of the events have turned out have been great for our country.

We would be completely different if the south had won. First african americans would be our property, that would be new. Second america might be two different countries. Lincoln could have done greater things if he hadn't been shot. america would have been a new country than today

If the South won the Civil War, slavery would be going on right now and rasism! After Lincoln's assassination rasism was happening! If we didn't win the Civil war, we might have slaves living in our homes!

ReplyDeleteour world is so much better off since the north won. If south would have won we would have slavery and it would be a bad place here. The USA would just be another place in the world and would not stand out like we do now. The only reason we stand out is because we are free. I am glad the north won.
